Sharpstown Baptist Church is an active member of The Christian Community Service Center (CCSC), which is a coalition of churches working to address the problems of poverty in the local community. The ministry accomplishes this through various resources: volunteerism, in-kind donations, operating a resale shop, and cash donations from the private sector to include church, individual, foundation and corporate support. CCSC provides community members in crisis immediate relief with every day necessities. The Emergency Services center and the Gethsemane Food Pantry offers food, clothing and shelter, helping neighbors avoid homelessness and substandard living conditions.
Sharpstown Baptist Church is actively involved in many CCSC Ministries including:
Gethsemane Food Pantry
Members volunteer their services in sorting and distributing food at the Gethsemane Food Pantry on Saturday mornings.
Sunshine Resale Shop
Church members also work in the Sunshine Resale Shop, which is a thrift store where donated goods (clothing, furniture, household items, etc.) are sold at low cost to help fund CCSC’s programs.
Jingle Bell Express
Each year, Sharpstown Baptist Church members donate toys to the Jingle Bell Express which furnishes toys to 2500 children in our area.
Back To School Program
Our members also donate money to the Back to School program which provides underprivileged children with school supplies, new uniforms, new shoes and gently used clothing.
Sharpstown Baptist Church donates the use of its facilities for the Martha's Way vocational training program that helps participants learn how to run their own professional housekeeping businesses.
